Welcome to Amanda's Dairy Goats....the place where having kids and being a kid is fun.
Grand Champion Jr. Showman and Grand Champion Sr. Grade Doe
I have been involved with the dairy goats since my parents purchased Licorice in 2002. The "kids" are my best friends and I am a "grandmother" many times over!
My Showmanship start
In 2007 I started my competitive showing career in 4-H. The Idaho Syringa Dairy Goat Association show in May was my first time showing in showmanship. As usual mom had the time wrong and we arrived just as my class was called to the ring. I had to get dressed so mom pulled "Sunni" out of the trailer, mostly dusty and with dirty feet. Brushing her off and tucking in my shirt as we ran into the class. "Sunni" was perfect, as she always is, and we placed . I learned a lot that day; like checking the show schedule myself. Our next show was in June at the Meridian Dairy Days. Mom and dad were in Nashville, so Grandma Charlene took us; we arrived clean, prepared and early. "Sunni" and I placed first in our Novice Showmanship class, second in the Jr. Showman run off and we were the third over all showman. The judge said that I was an excellent showman and that I could show his animals any day, actually they did call us in August to help them at the fair but I was in school. (Mom made me put that last part in, parents are so embarrassing!!!) After the June show, mom decided we were going to the 2007 Nationals in Wyoming.

Sunni freshened this year, giving us two bucklings, but her beautiful, well attached udder was worth the wait. She has really grown and matured over the past year and we believe that she will be a beautiful 2 year old. She continues to be Amanda's showmanship goat, the team works great together.

We purchased Xola at the 2007 Nationals from the Tuttlelu herd. She is a very pretty doe with an exceptional udder! She needs a couple of years to mature and we are willing to wait!

Cherub always stood towards the front of her class and Raz was close behind, trying to fight everyone around her! These does are very smoothly blended throughout, level top line on the move, flat ribbed with bone, very elegant and dairy.
Cherub freshened in early March with bucklings, she had a beautiful udder with the fore udder extension that we were looking, wonderful texture and perfect teat placement. Unfortunately, we lost Cherub to a freak accident and Raz to over eating in 2009.
Razmataz, second freshening, has a single large buck kid.

WOW! That was the words out of the appraiser mouth when we brought Easter out for his inspection. " You need to tame this doeling down and put her in the show ring!" Well she score EC and we will be getting her ready for 2009 Nationals. She is almost as big as the long yearlings and has more body mass (she is puggy right now) Very wide throughout, level and lots of bone, without giving up dairy character and elegance (when you can get her to walk) We plan to leave her a dry yearling, unless we can find the correct AI buck.
